ABOUT THE GAME
Catan (The Settlers of Catan) is one of the most popular and influential board games of recent decades, created by Klaus Teuber and first published in 1995. The game takes place on the fictional island of Catan, which player-settlers aim to colonize. The game board consists of land tiles (fields, forests, pastures, hills, mountains), each producing a specific resource when the corresponding number is rolled on the dice.
Players start with a few roads and settlements strategically placed at the intersections of the tiles. Each turn, dice are rolled to determine which lands produce resources. Players with settlements or cities adjacent to these lands receive the corresponding resource cards. Collected resources are used to build new roads, settlements (which yield more resources), and cities (which provide double resources and more victory points). An important element of the game is trading: players can exchange resources with each other at any agreed-upon price, making negotiation a key part of the gameplay.
The goal of the game is to be the first to reach 10 victory points.
